Max Verstappen of the Netherlands and Oracle Red Bull Racing reacts during previews ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of China at Shanghai International Circuit on April 18, 2024 in Shanghai, China. Edmund So | Getty ImagesThe Chinese Grand Prix could deliver some much-needed drama to Formula 1, and Red Bull's Max Verstappen can't be penciled in as the almost-certain winner on Sunday. It's also the season's first GP with a sprint race, which means Friday's practice session was the only one of the weekend. This is the first F1 race in China in five years, scratched from the calendar by the COVID-19 pandemic. Please note, that Abbott Laboratories is not listed below as we did not own the name before the company's earnings release. Meta Platforms had one of the best earnings reports of the entire season, as sales, earnings, and cash flow trounced expectations. Despite missing earnings expectations, Coterra Energy delivered where it matters most: discretionary and free cash flow. One of the most sacred objects in Judaism is made of skin from a bull's neck. It's called tefillin, and each black box contains scrolls that must be written by hand. Now, demand for these prayer objects has soared since the war in Israel and Gaza that erupted on October 7 — mostly from less religious Jews, including Israeli soldiers headed into battle. So what does it say inside these little boxes? And why are so many people trying to get their hands on them?

Formula One set to change sprint format for 2024
  + stars: | 2023-11-24 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +2 min
The governing FIA said on Friday its Sporting Advisory Committee would present a final proposal to the F1 Commission in January. "The Commission gave overall support for an update to the sprint format for 2024 to further rationalise the weekend by separating Sprint activities from those for the Grand Prix," the FIA said in a statement. Six of this year's 22 rounds were sprint weekends, including the Qatar Grand Prix in which Red Bull's Max Verstappen clinched his third world title on a Saturday. The current format has qualifying for the grand prix on Friday with sprint qualifying and standalone race filling Saturday's schedule. Points could be awarded more widely for the sprint race, with a possible reverse grid element also under consideration.

Russell was handed a five-second penalty for a lap 25 clash with Red Bull's triple world champion and eventual winner Max Verstappen that demoted the Briton from fourth at the finish to eighth. Ferrari ended up scoring 16 points more than Mercedes and closed the gap to four with just one race remaining in Abu Dhabi next weekend. "Just another massively missed opportunity this weekend," Russell told Sky Sports television. Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff said it was game over once Russell incurred the penalty but remained optimistic for the finale.

Red Bull Racing's dominance in Formula 1 this year is translating directly to higher sales of its namesake energy drink, the team's principal and CEO, Christian Horner, told CNBC. The Red Bull team, which also counts tech giant Oracle as a title sponsor, has trounced the grid this season, winning 19 of the 20 Grand Prix weekends so far. The Red Bull team secured the constructors championship the weekend prior, in Japan. Red Bull declined to share specific sales metrics, but a company spokesperson reiterated the F1 "uplift" and said it's particularly noticeable in corresponding race markets. U.S. GP results stand after F1 stewards reject Haas appeal
  + stars: | 2023-11-09 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +2 min
Stewards ruled, in a lengthy statement, that Haas had presented no significant and relevant new element that was unavailable to them at the time of the Oct. 22 race in Austin, Texas. The decision was reached after a virtual hearing that started on Wednesday and was deferred to Thursday. Haas, last in the championship, sought the review during last weekend's Sao Paulo Grand Prix because they believed some rivals exceeded track limits without sanction. The U.S.-owned team argued that the track limit infringements were "neither noted, nor investigated nor penalized by the stewards as reflected in the final classification." The stewards found the onboard camera footage of Albon's Williams and following cars was significant but not new, previously unavailable or relevant.
